Bryana Blessinger is a trial lawyer with more courtroom experience than most attorneys of her tenure. She has successfully tried more than 30 jury and bench trials to verdict during her career.

Bryana handles complex litigation cases in Oregon and Washington, including partnership and shareholder disputes, business torts, product liability and warranty claims, breach of contract matters, class actions, professional malpractice actions, and employment law matters.  Bryana also brings years of first- and third-party insurance coverage experience, including extensive knowledge of extra-contractual bad faith, property loss, directors and officers, professional negligence, product defect, and crime coverage claims.

Bryana has also handled large-scale environmental coverage matters including those involving Oregon’s Portland Harbor Superfund Site. She understands EPA, Oregon DEQ, and Natural Resource Damage remedial investigations and feasibility studies.

Bryana regularly presents on a range of topics to leading professional legal associations and is widely published. She serves as the Insurance Law Committee’s co-editor in chief for the Defense Research Institute’s The Voice publication, and on the Property & Liability Resource Bureau’s Affiliate Advisory Board.

Prior to joining Markowitz Herbold, Bryana worked as a shareholder for a large regional law firm. Bryana began her career as a Deputy District Attorney for Washington County, where she tried many criminal cases to verdict.

Representative Experience

  • Represented insurer in two-week jury trial regarding $1 million property claim by a wholesale automotive parts distributor for alleged damage to inventory, resulting in a defense verdict for her client.
  • Drafted motion for summary judgment in an $11 million construction defect lawsuit, where she successfully obtained dismissal of all claims against her general contractor client.
  • Handled multi-day arbitration resulting in a defense verdict for her real estate client.
  • Represented plaintiff manufacturing company in multi-day trial on unjust enrichment claim, with successful resolution on appeal.
  • Successful motion for partial summary judgment in Oregon district court, resulting in dismissal of negligence per-se claim against client.
  • Filed motion for summary judgment in Oregon circuit court, which resulted in voluntary dismissal of plaintiff’s lawsuit against insurer client.
  • Obtained successful settlement for plaintiff employee client within one week of filing wrongful termination and discrimination suit. 
  • Provided consultation to employee client regarding separation agreement and negotiated favorable terms with prior employer.
  • Assisted business client by gathering information and drafting documentation to ensure regulatory compliance in numerous states.
  • Provided Oregon resort with advice regarding golf cart usage on private roads and assisted with drafting waiver and liability agreements.
