Laura Salerno Owens Joins Markowitz, Herbold, Glade & Mehlhaf

Portland business litigation firm Markowitz, Herbold, Glade & Mehlhaf, PC announced today that litigator Laura Salerno Owens has joined the firm as an associate. Her practice will focus on commercial litigation and employment disputes.
Salerno Owens is a trial lawyer with broad experience representing clients in employment-related matters in state and federal courts and before the Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). She represents employers and employees in a variety of employment law issues including wage and hour disputes, discrimination charges, sexual harassment allegations, whistleblower claims, noncompetition agreements and trade secrets. She also has experience litigating claims arising under the Family Medical Leave Act, the Oregon Family Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. She handles both single and class-action lawsuits.
Most recently, Salerno Owens practiced at an employment law boutique firm, where she represented individuals and corporations in employment related disputes. She began her career as a law clerk for the Oregon Department of Justice’s Financial Fraud/Consumer Protection Section. Salerno Owens also served as a judicial extern for Chief Judge Ann Aiken in U.S. District Court.
Salerno Owens graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law where she was a finalist in the prestigious Western Regional Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
