Alexandra (Alex) is a trial lawyer with Markowitz Herbold. Alex advises clients engaged in state and federal litigation in many areas of law, ranging from commercial contracts to constitutional issues.
Alex handles all stages of pre-trial litigation and discovery, with a strong emphasis on complex eDiscovery. She helps clients and co-counsel navigate the legal and technological challenges that arise in the identification, preservation, collection, review and production of electronic data in complex litigation. Alex develops strategies for clients to meet their discovery obligations in an efficient manner, customized to meet each client’s resources and needs. She frequently prepares motions and 30(b)(6) depositions on data preservation and discovery issues.
Prior to joining the firm, Alex worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as an Assistant General Counsel for the Litigation Branch of the FBI’s Office of General Counsel, where she coordinated the defense of complex civil actions filed against the FBI. She also worked at a nationally recognized boutique law firm specializing in information law, including eDiscovery, information governance, and data privacy.
Alex served as a law clerk to the Honorable David J. Novak of the U.S. District Court of Eastern Virginia and as a judicial law clerk with the 14th Judicial Circuit of Virginia.
Alex is fluent in Korean and proficient in Japanese.
