Game File interviews Attorney Adam Starr about the recent rash of UGC lawsuits among Fortnite and Roblox creators.
“In general, the goal of copyright lawsuits in the video game industry is to get infringing games taken down,” said Starr, who is not involved in any of the aforementioned cases. “Many of the infringers are individuals who live in foreign countries, and it is expensive and time consuming to try to win and recover money from them. For most plaintiffs, the ‘win’ is keeping an infringing game off the market.”
