Applicants must have five+ years’ experience in a marketing leadership role within a professional services environment, strong leadership and consensus-building skills, marketing management and strategic planning experience, and a proven track record in developing and administering marketing programs.
Must be a self-starter, highly organized, and able to work well with attorneys at all levels in the organization. Must possess polished presentation and interpersonal skills, and top-level business management, interpersonal, and facilitation skills. Must have expertise in digital platforms. Ideal candidates will have a degree in marketing, business, or a related field and have a background in legal marketing. Experience in litigation marketing a plus.

Job Description
Position: Director of Marketing and Business Development
Reports To: Managing Shareholder, Executive Committee, Marketing Committee
Status: Exempt
Position Responsibilities:
Direct firm’s overall marketing and business development programs, and corporate communications. Facilitate client development through marketing and client services programs. Report to and collaborate with the firm’s Marketing Committee.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Design, implement, and facilitate an annual Marketing Plan for the firm. Support and facilitate the development and implementation of practice and industry groups and individual attorney marketing plans.
2. Plan and administer the firm’s Marketing Operations Budget including tracking spending and assessing ROI to evaluate the effectiveness of the firm’s business development and marketing efforts.
3. Oversee Marketing Sponsorships including:
• Analyzing strategic value
• Assisting attorneys in filling tables
• Managing sponsorship benefits such as ads, logos, signage, etc.
4. Manage Client Relations including:
• Client satisfaction interviews
• Client development activities
• Selecting and sending client gifts
5. Manage firm’s RFP Process, including crafting compelling proposals and pitches for new business; participate in planning and mock pitches.
6. Manage Business Development activities including:
• Assisting attorneys with individual marketing/rainmaking plans
• Assisting attorneys with rainmaking activities such as placing articles, scheduling CLEs, and coordinating events
• Assisting attorneys with attempts for membership in invitation only professional organizations, such as ACTL, ABOTA, and YPO
• Coordinating memberships and attendance at all professional organizations (such as OADC, FBA, MBA, Inn of Court) to assure firm visibility in local and state professional organizations
• Assisting attorneys with strategic planning for client presentations, beauty contests, etc.
• Offering coaching for prospective client meetings, presentations, etc.
• Managing and executing the Key Accounts program
• Providing coaching to shareholders and associates on successful BD techniques
• Conducting research using analytical tools on prospective clients
7. Oversee Corporate Communications and Advertising activities including:
• Public relations efforts such as writing and submitting press releases
• Identifying opportunities for attorneys to be highlighted in the media
• Submitting and managing award programs such as
• Design and place print and digital advertisements in media
8. Plan, promote, and coordinate all Marketing Events held at the firm, including:
• Receptions
• Fundraising events
• CLEs for outside attendees
• Annual open house in April
9. Execute Marketing and Branding Initiatives aligned with the firm's strategic objectives, particularly in digital and social media channels.
10. Oversee the firm’s Digital Marketing efforts including:
• Website
• Attorney bios
• Attorney blogs
• Social media marketing
• When You Need to Win Video Series
11. Manage the firm’s Timbers and Thorns tickets to ensure they are strategically used for business development purposes.
12. Support attorneys in identifying and pursuing Visibility Activities such as:
• Speaking engagements
• Writing opportunities
• Seminars and CLEs
• Conferences
13. Conduct Client Intake for new clients who contact us via the website or call the front desk. Determine if the firm is a good fit and then contact an attorney to do further due diligence and run conflicts check.
14. Support the Marketing Committee and assist in developing committee meeting agendas. Create a bi-monthly report for shareholders on upcoming conferences, events, and sponsorships.
Education, Experience, and Skills
Education: College degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
Experience: At least five years in a marketing director or manager role within a professional services environment. Strong leadership and consensus-building skills; marketing management and strategic planning experience; a proven track record in developing and administering a marketing program.
Required Skills: Must be a self-starter, highly organized, and able to work well with attorneys at all levels in the organization. Polished presentation and interpersonal skills. Must possess top-level business management, interpersonal, and facilitation skills. Must have expertise in digital platforms.
Special Skills: Background in legal marketing and experience in litigation marketing a plus. Training in Canva, Constant Contact, and related marketing platforms a plus.
