Naomi is an experienced employment lawyer and litigator. She focuses on employment law advice, litigation, and preventative counseling.
She is known for her pragmatic and level-headed approach to solving employment disputes and brings tailored, out-of-the box solutions to bear for her clients.
Naomi advises public, private and non-profit employers on the myriad and complex federal and state employment laws and regulations to prevent and address employment-related challenges. She routinely advises employers on Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Defend Trade Secrets Act, and their Oregon and Washington State counterparts. She represents employers before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries, the Washington State Human Rights Commission, and has broad experience litigating employment claims in federal and state court. Naomi also works with her employer clients to train their management and staff on employment-related topics to ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws.
Before joining Markowitz Herbold, Naomi worked at a premier management side labor and employment law boutique in Portland known for its excellent representation of employers in the Pacific Northwest.
Naomi graduated summa cum laude from Brooklyn Law School, where she served as an Articles Editor of the Brooklyn Law Review. Following graduation, she clerked for the Honorable Karen Nelson Moore of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Before relocating to Oregon in 2014, Naomi was an associate at Sullivan & Cromwell, LLP, where she represented leading global companies in complex commercial litigation in federal and state court, and regulatory matters before federal and state securities and banking agencies.
Naomi is a member of the American Bar Association, the Multnomah Bar Association, Oregon Women Lawyers, the Society for Human Resources Management, and the Portland Human Resources Management Association. She previously served as the Chair of the Oregon Association of Defense Counsel Employment Practice Group.
