In a nationally watched case, the Oregon Legislature and the Markowitz Herbold Appellate team prevailed in their legal quest for the right to extend the deadlines by which the Legislature must redraw the district boundaries of the state's 90 House and Senate seats.
In a unanimous ruling Friday, the Oregon Supreme Court gave the legislature until Sept. 27, or nearly three extra months, to complete redistricting. The Oregon Constitution says lawmakers must complete the task by July 1 or else it falls to Oregon’s secretary of state.
