Litigation can be tough. But Erin is determined. Creative. Hard working. Personable. Clients have described her as “easy to work with” and “friendly and open.” A welcome antidote to the stress of litigation.
Erin has represented individuals and businesses in matters ranging from complex class actions to breach of contract and business torts, non-competition and non-solicitation disputes, financial elder abuse, and wage and hour claims. No matter the legal issue, Erin brings a fresh focus and creativity to achieve her clients’ individual litigation goals. For example, her successful case strategy in a putative class action matter led to settlement before certification – a significant win for defense clients.
Erin’s clients are varied, and so is her skill set. She appears in trial and appellate courts and has experience with alternative dispute resolution forums like arbitrations and mediations. Erin recently obtained a favorable written opinion on a case she briefed and argued before the Oregon Court of Appeals focusing on an agreement to arbitrate.
Prior to joining Markowitz Herbold, Erin practiced at a regional firm focused on insurance recovery, complex commercial litigation, and business transactions. She also clerked for Oregon Supreme Court Justice and former Markowitz Herbold Shareholder, the Hon. Lynn Nakamoto, as well as the Oregon Tax Court, Magistrate Division. During law school, Erin externed for the Hon. Thomas Balmer of the Oregon Supreme Court.
A parent herself, Erin has a strong interest in ensuring that every next generation begins from a brighter and more equitable place than the generation before. She has shared her time and passion with organizations that aim to do just that, including the Classroom Law Project, the Imprint Program, Marion County CourtCare, and SMART Reading (Start Making A Reader Today).
